An Unforgettable Piece of Firefighting History

Founded in 1900, Mack Brothers Motor Car Company established itself as one of the first companies to make fire trucks in the United States. By the 1920s, Mack had grown into the leading manufacturer of fire trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles. Mack stopped building complete fire apparatus in 1990, but its legacy lives on in collector’s items like these used Mack fire trucks for sale.

Since the first Mack fire truck hitting the road in 1910, the Mack company has paved the way in quality craft and innovation. From aerial trucks, pumpers, rescue trucks and tankers, each Mack truck maintained the standard of the most versatile and reliable option for firefighting at the time.

The early Model “A” Series, emerging between 1914 and 1938, started the company name firmly in the firefighting arena. Between 1938 and 1950, Mack released another line of medium-duty trucks with state-of-the-art four-wheel brakes. Later, the Model “L” Series changed the game with even more powerful engines and mainly aluminum components. 

The late 1950s and 1960s brought Mack’s diesel engine truck, the beloved firefighting Model “C” chassis and a signature flat-front design. From then until the 1990s, the Model “R” and “CF” series served as Mack’s premier and last models of fire trucks. With many of its antique trucks still running today, it is no surprise that Mack had over 100 years of reign as a premier fire truck brand.
