1919 Chevy Classic (U1043)

This 1919 Chevrolet Model T Firetruck was purchased new in 1919 by the City of Portland, OR. The Chevrolet placard says Truck Number 6. Newspaper clippings show the vehicle as received and then again after the conversion to a Fire Fighting apparatus. It served the city for many years before being sold and replaced with newer equipment. The vehicle sat for a number of years in a barn before being acquired for intended restoration. Bud Warnkin was the Fire Chief in Sutherland, OR and also involved in auto restoration. He purchased the vehicle around 1983, but as so often happens, he never was able to do the restoration although he did acquire several parts and pieces which all go with it. It sat in his garage for over 25 years and then we inherited it in 2003. It has been stored inside since then. I have suffered a similar fate, not health, but just too many projects to finish, so this one needs to be acquired by someone that can and will restore it. It is in very good condition as restorations go and there are many ancillary items that go with it such as parts, tools and even the original service manual. As the pictures show, the truck is very complete. The engine of course will need to be overhauled but it does turn over, and I have lubricated the cylinders a few times. After we acquired it, I replaced the tires, tubes and liners so it could be moved around. Too many pictures to include here but all are available on request.
